The War on Patriots: Patriotic Americans, Survivalists, and Military being Targeted

Do you love America, Believe the Constitution is the law of the land and respect the founding fathers? If you answered yes to any of those questions, your federal government thinks you might be a threat to the nation.
Over the last couple of years patriotism, something that was once considered a virtue, has somehow become a threat to the powers who run the country. We’ve listed numerous examples of this in the past, but over the weekend it became even more apparent as major media outlets from around the country jumped at the chance to tie the LAX shooter to the “patriot movement”.

LAX Shooter described as belonging to the “Patriot movement”

NBC News reported that the suspect may have been influenced by propaganda of the antigovernment “patriot” movement. They went on to quote The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), who on their website described anyone who disagrees with the current administration, or thinks the Department of Homeland Security has grown out of control, as a hate-filled extremist who belongs to the “patriot movement.”

As we reported earlier this year, the SPLC has started a crusade against what they call “Patriots” and “Survivalists”.

In a report prepared for U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, the SPLC asked the Federal Government to create a new inter-agency task force which will be dedicated to tracking and taking down conspiracy theorists, survivalists, “Patriot groups” and the “American radical right”.

What I find most bizarre, is the term patriot movement. In the past, being called a patriot was akin to being called an American; today that term seems like something dirty that you now have to hide.

Navy Told to Remove ‘don’t tread on me’ Union Jack Flag

Navy JackThe Navy Jack is the ‘don’t tread on me’ flag, something that goes back to the earliest years of the republic. It’s been a symbol that members of the Navy have proudly flown and warn on their uniforms for years; in fact, an amendment to the Navy code called SECNAV Instruction 10520.6 clearly states that as of 31 May 2002 all ships are to fly the flag throughout the duration of the War on Terror.

According to the Daily Caller, Navy SEAL commanders have now banned SEALs from wearing the flag, because “The Jack is too closely associated with radical groups,” – a.k.a Patriots.

Isn’t patriotism kind of that the point of the military? Do we really want people in the military who aren’t patriotic?

Department of Defense Lists Patriots as the Enemy

Earlier this year, Judicial Watch a government, legal, and judicial Watchdog Group, obtained Department of Defense Training manuals that listed the founding fathers as an example of an extremist group.

The training manual said, “In U.S. history, there are many examples of extremist ideologies and movements. The colonists who sought to free themselves from British rule and the Confederate states who sought to secede from the Northern states are just two examples.”

The document goes on to warn military members that it’s their duty “to help combat extremism in the military.”

We have a government that’s declaring war on the thoughts, opinions and principles that founded this country.

What happened at LAX is heartbreaking. In my opinion, anyone who seeks to do harm to other people is truly a sick individual. That being said, this tragedy has nothing to do with patriotism; and anyone suggesting that it somehow has anything to do with patriotic people should be ashamed of themselves.

Unfortunately, just like many of the recent tragedies, there are now going to be those who exploit the situation for political gain. In my opinion, those people  are almost as disgusting as those who take part in these senseless acts of violence.
